one liter of tears

"One Liter of Tears" or "Ichi Litre no Namida" is based on a true story of a girl who suffered from Spinocerebellar Degeneration disease. Ikeuchi Aya, the main character, was played by actress, Sawajiri Erika. acting opposite her is Japanese actor/singer, Nishikido Ryo, as Aso Haruto. originally, Nishikido's role is nonexistent, nonetheless, it added a lot of color in the drama - who'll say no to some little romance? right?

when GMA7 began showing teasers and commercials of the said drama, my interest was already caught. the tv network is really good in advertising and marketing their shows. the said opinion is not being said just on the view of a mere viewer. i managed to learn about it first hand when my thesis groupmates and i interviewed the network's program management department manager.

but it's not the commercials that got me hooked but the story itself. i'm always a sucker for medical dramas, hence, i'm an avid "House, M.D." viewer. i'm always curious of what are the other life-threatening diseases are there aside from HIV/AIDS and Cancer.

and there's also the 'love story', i can never forget when Nishikido's role said (in Filipino dub),

"...ngayon, yung tungkol naman sa'yo...mahal kita...yata...mahal kita...yata
lang ah (...now, about you...i love you...maybe...i love you...just maybe,
ok?)"
.
hahaha. the line's completely foolish and stupid but i like it. it's so honest, straightforward and brave. he's acting is also good, i don't mind if i don't get to hear his real voice but by just watching how his face expresses emotions, i can't help but fall for it. hahahahaha.

i'm also in awe on how Sawajiri acted the part. i don't know about the talking since the drama that i got to watch is already dubbed. but the way she walks, it's totally convincing - it jerks violently and it's almost believable that it hurts. also the way her hands move and even her head. no wonder Sawajiri was able to earn huge recognition from her drama.

it's rare for me to actually go crazy about foreign heavy dramas since i'm always into romantic comedy, nonetheless, this goes under my favorites. tomorrow will be the drama's last day in the Philippine primetime tv - too bad GMA7 won't show the SP. tsk.
